Frequently Asked Questions

How do private dinners work?

I bring the restaurant experience to your home or Airbnb. We can work together to plan the perfect event for your group. Or just leave it to me to handle menu planning and service, and be a guest at your own party.

  • Meal service for 4-20 guests (larger events sometimes possible, just ask!)
  • Full service from planning to prep to cleanup
  • I arrive ~2-3 hours before your event to set up and prepare

What does meal prep involve?

Super flexible, customized menus prepared in your kitchen for the week ahead. Meals are designed around your family's tastes, dietary preferences, and lifestyle, making it easier to enjoy nutritious, flavorful food without the stress of cooking every day.

  • Flexible scheduling - weekly, biweekly, or custom
  • Includes ~5 dinners for your family of any size made with fresh, high-quality ingredients
  • Meals are packaged neatly and labeled in your fridge/freezer to enjoy throughout the week
  • Optional add-ons: specialty sides, beverages, or desserts

What is your service area?

I serve clients throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Events outside this area may be accommodated for an additional travel fee.

How do I book?

Fill out this contact form with details about your event or meal prep needs. I’ll follow up with a quote and we can discuss your preferences, schedule a date, and finalize your menu.

How does payment work?

Invoices are conveniently sent via email through Square. I request a $200 deposit to book a cook date. This is 100% refundable up to 7 days before the event. The balance is due on the day of the event. I accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, and credit cards.

What types of events do you cook for?

Here are some examples:

  • Birthday dinners
  • Anniversary dinners
  • Wellness retreats
  • Bachelorette parties
  • Galentine’s dinners
  • Holiday meals (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.)
  • Family reunions
  • Date night at home
  • Wine or beer pairing dinners
  • Or whatever else you can dream up!

Are you insured?

Yes, I hold liability insurance through the Food Liability Insurance Program (FLIP). I am also a ServSafe® Food Protection Manager and hold an up-to-date Allergen Awareness Certificate.

Do I need to provide a kitchen?

Yes - as long as you have an oven/stove and some counter space, we should be all set. All meals are finished on-site in your kitchen or your vacation rental kitchen (some prep may be performed offsite in a commercial kitchen). I bring all necessary professional cooking equipment; I can also provide plates, tableware, and glassware upon request.

Do I need to be present while you're cooking?

Not at all. I can work independently while you enjoy your time away, but you’re welcome to be involved if you’d like. For meal prep clients, a brief consultation before the first session is helpful.

How many guests can you serve?

Private dinners are designed for 4-20 guests. Larger events can be accommodated with additional consultation and planning. A server can be provided upon request for larger gatherings.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely. I craft menus around allergies, preferences, and dietary requirements, ensuring every guest can enjoy the meal.

Do you provide alcohol?

I do not directly provide or serve alcohol due to licensing restrictions. I do, however, suggest pairings and guidance for beer (my speciality), wine, or cocktails, and help you plan mocktails or non-alcoholic options. If you'd like more extensive beverage service, I can also work with a mobile bartending service.

What about cleanup?

I take care of all cleanup. Your kitchen will be left spotless at the end of the event!

How far in advance should I book?

For private dinners, I recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Weekly meal prep clients can schedule recurring sessions based on availability.

Can you provide take-home meals for leftovers?

Yes! All leftover food is packaged in labeled containers, making it easy for you to enjoy later.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, gift certificates are available and make a great option for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or special occasions. Just ask!

What’s the difference between a personal chef and catering?

A personal chef experience is designed to be more intimate, customized, and service-focused than traditional catering. Rather than preparing food in bulk and delivering it, I work directly with you to create a tailored menu and prepare everything fresh in your home or event space.

This allows for greater attention to detail, better control over timing and quality, and a more interactive, restaurant-level experience in a comfortable setting. Catering is often better suited for large-scale events, while a personal chef is ideal for smaller gatherings where the food and overall experience are the main focus.

What is metta?

Metta is a Buddhist term often translated as "loving-kindness," or the heartfelt desire for the welfare and happiness of others. I chose it as my business name because I aspire to embody metta in everything I do, including my cooking. For me, preparing a great meal and providing exceptional hospitality are simply expressions of that practice.
